When Kayson had his many moons ago, he never got traction anywhere. So I wrapped duct-tape around the rear wheels, and he got MUCHO traction! After awhile, the added traction did start stripping out the gear box. Thank God for Wal-Marts' return policy! He was only three as well, but he had an absolute blast on that thing...

I don't understand how the title of the vid says "$100,000 Sand Rail Burns to the Ground!"

they got the fire out and saved the motor. looks like all that was burned (however I can't see based on that vid) is the electrical and interior.

that was an electrical fire from the looks of it. good job by those guys getting sand in there to snuff out the air to the fire. [/b][/quote]
I would bet there was more damage than meets the eye. Depending on how hot the fire got, the strength of the frame could be weakened. I am sure all of the guages are destroyed. I couldnt tell but the front shocks were probably affected by the fire, any and all bushing from the cab towards the front are probably gone. I would say that they saved the motor, and hopefully the tranny, and I would just build a new buggy(if my wallet would allow).

I just can't hear about rotary engines without snickering "Wankle"

I had a 2nd gen RX7 turbo (2 rotor) for a while. Perty fast car, but the body was junk. Everything fell apart. Maybe it was all the 12's I had in the hatch rattling the body panels off...

Oh no, you were the guy that had the vibrating rear bumper ! Don't worry, my old K-5 blazer had 2-12's and the little plate that said Cheverolet on the tail gate would dance in circles cuz it was only held on by 1 stripped out screw!
