so i was inspired by Xtreme 4x4's scout rear swing down basket...
http://www.spike.com/full-episode/69...national/35563 skip to 12:00 (part 3) i will be getting a full size spare one of these days that will not fit under my bed. 32" for now or possibly 33" if i go that route one of these days. i use my bed most of the time and don't want a spare to take up room so what about this? [i got board at my desk... these are professional drafts... trust me lol] http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/w...d/100_0126.jpg http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/w...d/100_0124.jpg http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/w...d/100_0128.jpg so... with the swing down basket i could carry the spare there without losing my bed space. BUT how much do you think it would effect MPG's and do you think i could fab up somehow to drop the tailgate and still have the basket attached so i could haul stuff with a dropped gate? maybe pivot points at the tailgate and the top of the "A" of the basket? now... it is 3am... so... tell me if im on to something or im just retarted and sleep deprived. edited because it's f'in late...

I dunno, seems cool, but that sure would get heavy everytime you had to put down the tailgate... But if you can work around it, its cool. It would be awesome to incorporate a spring in there...

i assume you read four wheeler correct?(dumb question i know) but if you do, do you remember the colonel mustard cj they had. it had a swing down gate that i was looking at doing for my other blazer.
![]() i had planned on doing something like this, but i had to make a different bumper to get it to work. It doesn't look like it'll seperate from the tailgate, but a little work and i'm sure it could heres the link love the drafts though

yeah, i can't spell as it is especially at 3 am... haha
im thinking of it being seperate being it would be heavy and a pain to lift without a spring. and im pretty sure it would cover up the gate handel anyways. the cj is a good idea but it would hang on the gate making it heavy. also i want to mount my liscense plate on the basket and have the nuts holding the spare facing the truck instead of outward.

Thought I might add my opinion.
I love this spare tire holder, but they are crazy on the price, $680.00!!! It would be nice if someone could start making them for alot less.http://tiregate.com/hg_series_0.shtml
